When I'm out on the campaign trail – speaking at events or knocking on doors – I always carry with me some envelopes to hand out to potential supporters. Today, I received a filled-out envelope from someone very special – a man with decades of experience serving our state at the highest levels: Former Washington Governor Daniel J. Evans:
Governor Evans is a hero of mine – someone I used to read about in my high school civics class. Not only did he serve as governor for an unprecedented three consecutive terms, and was United States Senator, but before all of that, he was elected by voters in the 43rd Legislative District to represent them in the Washington State House of Representatives. His endorsement and his support means the world to me. Here's his full statement:
“I am proud to endorse Paul Graves for State Representative. Having served as governor for 12 years, and as state representative for nine years before that, I know what it takes to be an effective legislator. Paul has it. He knows his community; is deeply committed to public service; and has the experience, values, knowledge, and temperament to make an outstanding state representative. I have no doubt that he will serve the people of the 5th district with distinction. I am delighted that he is running, and enthusiastically give him my support.”
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
